SPOTLIGHT ON THE WOMEN MAKING ART HISTORY NOW

As the world celebrates female achievements throughout March with International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring will join the global celebrations by showcasing incredible talent in a curated display of the contemporary female artists making history now. With female artists still only representing 25% of the market (Artsy 2024), spotlighting living female artists has never been more important. The exhibition will bring together those at the forefront of the industry as well as rising stars and the names with the potential to feature in the history books of the future.

ARTIST OF THE FAIR: MARGAUX CARPENTIER

The artist to watch at this year’s Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring is London-based print maker and illustrator Margaux Carpentier (represented by Art Friend) who will front the fair’s marketing campaign, as well create a new, bespoke installation that will greetguests at the Fair’s entrance hall. Throughout her work, Margaux creates pictures using symbolic language and is inspired by the infinite combinations of colours offered by the world. She works on extremely varied projects, from large murals, installations and paintings to book illustrations and even toys. Her installation for Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring will be a giant, humanlike creature ‘filled with secrets’, radiating bright colours as guests enter the fair.

ART FOR INTERIOR LOVERS

Spring is the perfect time for an interiors refresh, and those looking to update their home decor with the latest design trends need look no further than the fair’s Pantone Colour of the Year display. This year’s colour Mocha Mousse (PANTONE 17-1230) is a coffee and chocolate colour that speaks to nurture, comfort and harmony. The fair will collate a stunning selection of artworks that bring this to life, as well as offer suggestions and guidance for how to colour pair in the home.

Alongside this, visitors can also browse collections of the top finds to be had for savvy art buyers on a budget, with displays of ‘Finds Under £500’ and ‘Finds Under £1,000.’

FUN FOR FAMILIES

Affordable Art Fair’s popular Family Morning is back, running on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am-12pm, with activity packs, face-painting, and more! As well as full access to the fair for the family, children of all ages can take part in a range of creative workshops in partnership with Kido.
